Yes, running an online business is not JUST everything about template design, images slimming and fitting, links optimizing SEO-wise, content creation and management, feedback contact forms, e-commerce, shopping carts, communities, socio-nets, twitting, digging, flashing, youtubbing, googling or blah-ing...
It's ultimately turning down to the infrastructure, to the hardware (enhanced security servers cluster) and software elements burried deep inside the LAMP web hosting ecosystem (where LAMP goes for Linux Apache MySQL PHP)... Then what would be a Volkswagen without the marvel of the Autobahn.
And what's a Joomla! without web hosting excellence for Free... (go click this link to read what you get for the cents).
Here comes the (*)asterisk note, in same font size as the GRAND offer above:
IF and only IF you've taken your Volkswagen (Joomla! is the e.Volkswagen, remember?) from our service labs, then you may ride it TOLL FREE for three months time!

Well, that's a statement to stay in the e-universe, of course...

Last week, one client of ours launched an online shop where anyone of us, men, would love to invest some money, buying at least one of the nostalgic and children cherrished products. The site in cause is modellbiler.no, meaning cars model kits in Norwegian.
A recent "bug report" question we recieved from our client was about why the stock is not updated to its initial value when a pending order is being deleted. Honestly, my mind didn't stopped much, if at all, over the brutal meaning of the used verb: "to delete." I thought it's about changing an order's status type, like from "pending" (the default) to "canceled" or "refunded" status. Like in the normal life when you get paid on an order, you would update its status from "pending" to "confirmed" in order to initiate the next stage of "shipping" before, again, updating the order's status to "shipped" and let it lay in the database for further exports to Excel when time comes your accountant will demand so. Yes, never forget that any virtual shop eventually ends up with a paper printed history.
It turns out that Virtuemart delivers perfectly well when you update a "pending" order's status to "canceled" status: it simply adds the items being hold off by the order back to the inventory where they belong.
Just in case you might have the urge to delete any orders, please first consider the following:
1. An order's status is meant to be updated in accordance to where the money and the merchandise are to be found: pending status = before money arrives to you; confirmed status = after you got the money, this reminding you to ship the merchandise to the customer; shipped status = after the merchandise got shipped.
2. In the sorrow case of some misunderstandings: cancel status = when no payment arrived and, frakly, you do not need the money; refunded status = when you already got the money prior to enter some misunderstandings so you had to refund the client.
3. Not advisable to delete orders from the database, at least until your accountant would advise you so.
Happy sales wishing y'all! And don't forget to pay a visit to modellbiler.no and feel again like it's Christmas time.
