Sometimes you really want your latest posted article to show up on top of the stack on your fancy dandy groovy Joomla site. Quite a normal desire, I might add...

An always excellent start is to go in your Joomla backend > Menu manager > pick up your menu > edit menu item > parameters [advanced] > Category order / Primary order > Most recent first; apply and check it out. If not properly sorting your articles in the frontend blog, then keep reading...

Don't update your Joomla site!

Well, the title is very harsh but in the Joomla world today there are so many people using extensions and templates which just isn't compatible with the latest version of Joomla 1.5.12. Are we really saying you shouldn't upgrade? Of course not. The title doesn't reveal everything we wanted to express with this. What we talk about is that you shouldn't just upgrade your site, without first thinking about it. Here are some "ground rules" for updating your Joomla site.

It happened sometime around mid June on a Dreamhost user account, older than three years and bloated with quite some antiquated long forgotten web applications. All of a sudden, every site under the above mentioned unix user was displaying this:

Tips on Mass Uploading Inventory in Virtuemart with CSVi

Don't get scared, we're not gonna reproduce some online manual at hand. The tips listed below are coming from our hands-on experience with one or more customers. Joomla and VirtueMart is serving their online business sales and CSVi is the component that's making their mass data uploads a breeze. 

Some lil things:

1. The [excel].xls file must be properly converted into csv and NO "$" sign in the price cells, because the mySQL data base requires numerical data in the price field.
